Zalo Personal

The Zalo Personal channel uses QR login to connect a personal Zalo account to a RealTimeX workspace. It is the most policy-rich channel flow in the current product.

Open it from Settings > Channels > Add Channel > Zalo Personal.

What makes it different

Unlike token-based channels, this flow:

  • logs in through a QR code
  • can load your Zalo friends and groups after connection
  • supports allowlists for both DMs and groups
  • can require mentions before responding in groups

Step 1: Basic setup

Before QR login, the current flow asks for:

  • workspace
  • optional thread
  • optional display name

After that, click Next: QR login.

Step 2: QR login

  1. Open the Zalo app on your phone.
  2. Scan the QR code shown in RealTimeX.
  3. Wait for the account to connect.

If the login succeeds, RealTimeX can show the connected account name and move you into the policy step.

Step 3: Choose access policies

After the account is connected, the current flow supports four DM modes:

  • Pairing
  • Open
  • Allowlist
  • Disabled

It also supports three group modes:

  • Disabled
  • Open
  • Allowlist

DM policy behavior

  • Pairing means users need approval before they can chat.
  • Open means anyone who can reach the account can chat.
  • Allowlist means only selected friends can chat.
  • Disabled means direct messages are ignored.

Group policy behavior

  • Disabled means the account does not respond in groups.
  • Open means it can respond in groups.
  • Allowlist means only selected groups are allowed.

When group access is enabled, you can also require an @mention before the account replies.

Friend and group allowlists

When you choose Allowlist, RealTimeX loads directory data from the connected account:

  • friends for DM allowlists
  • groups for group allowlists

For group allowlists, the current flow can also store per-group mention requirements.

This means you can allow only a few selected groups and still require a mention inside those groups.

Save and start

After policies are configured:

  1. review the selected friends or groups if you used allowlists
  2. click Save & Start

How to use it

After the plugin is running:

  • approved friends can DM the connected account if DM policy allows it
  • allowed groups can trigger replies if group policy allows it
  • if Pairing is enabled, review first-contact requests in Pairing Codes
  • use Users to disable or remove previously approved users

Settings you can change later

The current Settings view lets you change:

  • display name
  • default thread routing
  • agent whitelist
  • DM policy
  • DM allowlist
  • group policy
  • group allowlist
  • mention requirements

Re-login and recovery

Zalo Personal supports QR relogin from the channel card when the plugin enters error.

Use relogin before deleting the channel. Existing policy configuration is much easier to preserve that way.

Troubleshooting

No friends or groups appear in the allowlist pickers

Directory data is loaded only after the account is connected. Finish QR login first, then reopen the policy step or the Settings tab.

The account answers too often in groups

Tighten the group policy:

  • switch from Open to Allowlist
  • require mentions
  • remove noisy groups from the allowlist

Access rules are too confusing for users

Start simpler:

  • use Pairing for DMs
  • leave groups Disabled
  • expand to allowlists or group access only after the private chat flow is working
